Comments.

Comments have been turned off at most of the JourneyPen Project. The only exception is the Conversation Corner here, which you can feel free and encouraged to comment on.

The decision to turn off comments for the rest of the site was made to allow each person to have their own reaction to the material, all on their own, in private, unswayed by others' reactions. People will be moving through the tools here at their own pace, and I want to allow everyone to have a fresh experience.

If you do want to make comments outside of the Conversation Corner, I invite you to follow me in Instagram. I talk about the same topics there, and a lot of the content is exactly the same.

Questions.

You are always free to ask questions. I totally welcome them. However, I can’t always answer your questions.

I’m elbows-deep in creating all sorts of things, and I don’t have capacity to respond to every question and message I receive—though I do read them all.

The biggest reason for this is that I think slowly and answer completely, to the best of my ability. This is a time-consuming process. But my style is to answer a few questions deeply rather than answer every questions shallowly.

So, I do respond to some.

I’ve actually responded to quite a few over the years. If I have already answered a question, I usually won't answer it again unless my answer has changed. I have answered a lot of questions over the years, and I’ve been organizing them so that they'll be easier to peruse.

You can find the already answered questions here.

For new questions, please see the ways I answer questions below.

Ways I Answer Questions

YouTube.

I sometimes answer question in video form, and I post it on my YouTube channel. I find that filming an answer is my fastest method of getting information to you—if I write it out, I often get caught revising my answer over and over again.

Filming my answer doesn’t actually speed up the contemplating that goes into answering. That’s why I can only answer a few.

Community Q’s.

Every few months, I show up on Instagram Live and answer questions from readers.

I prioritize the questions from readers who are present at the Live event, but I also draw from the questions I received from readers in the interim. So, if you submit a question, there’s a good chance that I’ll answer it in the next Instagram Live session. If I do answer your question, I try to email you, but I won’t be able to tell you exactly where in the video the question was answered. They usually run an hour long.

You can find the dates for the Community Q’s here.

JourneyPen Voice Letters.

If you would like personalized advice from me, I have developed the JourneyPen Voice Letters.

These are intended for adults writers only, specifically for those looking for advice on their particular path, with one specific question. It can be a long, complicated question, but this offering is really intended to focus on one question at a time.

Here’s a quick overview of that process: You submit the question to me via a questionnaire, and I reflect on it for a time. Then I record a message back, like a voice letter or a mini-podcast of your own. You can learn more here.

Submit a question.

If you submit a question here, I will assume:

  • that you’ve read the contact policy above,

  • that you understand that I can only respond to a few,

  • that my response to your question, if answered, will be public, for others to enjoy, and

  • that the name you submit will be the best name to use when referring to your question (“Anonymous” is fine, as if “Susie Q.” or any other online aliases).

Thank you for your question!
